Congratulations to Lorna who won an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for her portrayal of Cynthia Weil in the London West End musical Beautiful. We’re all incredibly proud of Lorna receiving this honour. As we write songs for our next Acoustic Earth EP, Amen, it’s fascinating to see Lorna play the role of one of the all-time great pop lyricists (You Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, On Broadway, Somewhere Out There, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place) and realize that the business of writing songs – and more importantly, getting them recorded – was as difficult and tortuous in the late 50’s, 60’s and 70’s as it still is today. The show Beautiful charts the early careers of Cynthia, her husband and writing partner Barry Mann, Carole King and her husband and writing partner Gerry Goffin and is still playing in London if you want to see Lorna in a very different role than lead singer in Acoustic Earth.
